Meropenem injection is used to treat skin and abdominal (stomach area) infections caused by bacteria and meningitis (infection of the membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord) in adults and children 3 months of age and older. Meropenem injection is in a class of medications called antibiotics.
Dosage: It comes as a solution for injection, administered by a healthcare provider, into the vein. IV- The recommended dose is 0.5 gm to 2 gm (10 to 40mgkg) by slow infusion, 3 times per day.
What is Meropenem in MerZy Inj for?
Meropenem in MerZy Inj is a carbapenem antibiotic, prescribed for bacterial infections like skin and skin structure infections, bacterial meningitis, serious nosocomial infections like septicaemia, febrile neutropenia, intraabdominal and pelvic infections. The medication inhibits cell wall synthesis in bacteria, and thereby leading to cell death.
Common side effects of Meropenem in MerZy Inj:
Pain, abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, back pain, abdominal enlargement, chills and pelvic pain.

What precautions should I take when taking Meropenem in Meropenem in MerZy Inj?
If you have an allergy to meropenem or any other part of this drug, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.
When do I need to seek medical help?
If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug, these include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat.
